Double outcome donations
Donations are split 50% for the development and promotion of the Plastic Free Oceans platform and 50% is used to install solar power in remote Pacific island schools.
Giving kids carbon free electricity for a modern education is certainly a worthwhile cause in itself, but as part of the agreement to receive the solar system the schools commit to spend 3 hours each term picking up plastics in their local area. They do this with a focus on ocean drift plastics – there is tons of it. There will be 1000s of kids clearing remote beaches of plastic, every term (4 terms per year), indefinitely. Others in the villages are sure to get involved. So many thousands of pieces of plastic will be saved from the ocean each term, plus the general awareness will result in greater impact as many will adopt picking up plastic as routine practice – heroes.
Plastic Free Oceans is an initiative of Its Time Foundation – check out the solar projects there.
Please note that administration, rent and office costs of the charity are capped at a maximum 18%. That is much less than most charities, so you can be confident your contribution will be well spent for a better environment for us all.
